Victor Matthews (b. 1963) is an African American artist and sculptor who debuted in the 1980s with the support of the most important artists in NY's street-art scene. He is now one of the leading figures of the contemporary art scene and splits time between New York City and Los Angeles. He often draws iconic elements from New York such as sneakers, pigeons, bikes, paved roads, bridges, or water towers in his work, sketching them in a half-hieroglyphic, half-abstract style.
