Cheney Thompson (1975) is a painter who lives and works in New York.  His projects often span several years and investigate both the medium of painting and the larger systems of circulation that paintings inhabit.  Thompson mines the histories of modernism in his work, critiquing how images have been produced, displayed, and circulated in today’s art market.
